|A monumental villa, which has been home to art and artists for centuries, opens its doors to welcome you in the seductive atmosphere of its beautiful apartments.
The one named "The Ladies Retreat" is on the first floor of the villa. It is given admittance through an astonishing monumental staircase and trough a delicious parlour where the frescoes on the walls and the ceiling simulate an open air terrace with country landscapes all around.
This apartment is named after the use it had in the past centuries: this was the part of the house where the ladies relaxed while talking, reading and playing music after their morning toilet. The remarkable and absolutely unique neoclassical frescoes in the delicate nuances of ivory colour which are featured in the living room create a seductive atmosphere of great serenity. The apartment is very smart and bright: beside the wide and charming living room it features a romantic double bedroom, a trendy kitchen and a large bathroom.
The villa benefits from a large garden, where you can relax in the shadow of beautiful age-old trees.
Located just 2 minutes from the motorway exit, the property is an ideal base for art itineraries to Pisa, Lucca, Firenze, Volterra, San Gimignano, and Siena.
A car is not necessary!! A free car service is available for guests to/from Pisa airport. Shops, restaurants and cafés are within walking distance, as well as a bus stop and a train station with direct trains for Pisa and Florence, and connections for the main cities of Tuscany.
On request, a taxi service is available for half-day and one-day trips.
Besides the most famous art cities, discover some of the less known but none the less remarkable art treasures: picturesque villages, Roman churches and old monasteries in the countryside.
Do not miss walking in the hills, which offer a breathtaking view of the countryside.
Tired of trips? Enjoy a relaxing massage or a beauty treatment at the renowned Bagni di Pisa spa, just 15 minutes driving from the property.
Public swimming pools and tennis courts are only 5 minutes away by car.
Bicycles are available for guests, free of charge.
The sea is not far, with beautiful beaches in Tirrenia (just 20 minutes away by car) and in Viareggio (30 minutes), as well as picturesque bays with cliffs and beaches near Livorno.
Fond of Italian food? There are plenty of cosy restaurants in the area with a wide choice of traditional and creative dishes; in November and December do not miss the famous local white truffles, as well as excellent wines and pure olive oil from local producers.
|Pisa Cascina area|
|Pisa is wellknown for its leaning tower and the amazing Fieled of Miracles, which don't need any further description.
But there are many other monuments and places which are well worth seeing while walking through the city centre, after having a drink in a café or tasting a real Italian homemade ice cream.
Not far from Pisa visit Calci, a nice old town in the country with its beautiful Certosa, S. Miniato (a medieval town with landscapes on Arno valley and countryside), S. Piero a Grado (basilica).
In June a festival is held in Pisa, called "Giugno Pisano" with music, traditonal games, exhibitions. On June 16th at night "Luminaria di S. Ranieri": thousands of candles adorn all the buildings along the river Arno and reflect their shapes on the water; unforgettable!
A Classical music festival named "Anima Mundi" is held in the monumental cathedral in Pisa in September and October.
Walk on the hills around Pisa among picturesque villages with a superb view over the country up to the sea and the isles.
Beach, boat rent, surfing and sailing in Tirrenia.
Lots of cosy restaurants in the city centre and in the country.
Wide range of high quality red and white wines. Taste the Italian food and don't miss the famous white truffles in S. Miniato, only 30 minutes driving from the villa. In November an important food festival is held, which features plenty of delicious dishes with truffles as well as the excellent red wines of the area.Traditional "sagre" everywhere in the countryside in Summer, which are outdoors gastronomic festivals, each offering food and wine inspired by a particular theme or ingredient, depending on the typical produce of the place.

|"The Ladies Retreat" was a delightful appartment, reflecting the history and character of this fine old Tuscan home. The contemporary bathroom and kitchen did not detract from the atmosphere and were well equipped. Access to bus and train was a 10 to 15 minutes walk from the house, with good links to Pisa Lucca and Florence. This trip was a long held wish upon my retirement and I was accompanied by my daughter. The quality of our holiday was much enhanced by the attention and kindness given to us by ,Donatella, the owner. She picked us up from Pisa airport,on arrival/ departure. She was available and helpful with any queries. It is my hope to return again. Eileen
It was our first trip to Italy and we booked this apartment due to the good reviews and its location with easy links to Pisa and Florence... We were picked up from the airport by Donatella and talked through the history of the building on our way there. It added to the wow factor of a building that is so beautiful inside. It is a real gem. We are a young couple and found the local area a bit quiet and so a quick cycle on the free bikes meant we were in Cascina, a small town with a choice of some lovely restaurants. We travelled into Florence, Pisa and the beach at Viareggio by train and it was all very easy. There are a few local shops that offer good food and local produce in Navacchio. We had an amazing 4 nights and would recommend this to anyone. The owners, Donatella and Antonio were so generous and were even on hand to rescue us when missing our last train home! Thank you so much for a lovely time and we hope to return next year and wish you both all the best. Michael and Francesca
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in a pristine apartment in this ancient villa which is undergoing renovation in stages, and is a remarkable tribute to the owners. It was a delight to be there. The owners were kindness itself. As a small tip we would perhaps suggest taking or hiring a car. The buses and trains are not too far away; there were bikes available for our use; the owners kindly took us to and from the airport, and were very kind in driving us on other occasions; but it would be an advantage to have one's own vehicle to get around, perhaps to explore the hills. Having said that we had no trouble going to Florence, Pisa, Casina, and Lucca, all by public transport, which we found very convenient when visiting these lovely cities.
